Lung Cancer ... My Friend is Supposed to be Dead!

Fall of 2002, my friend Orville was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and was given no more than six months to live. One half of his left lung was cancerous. The doctors could not even biopsy it, for when looking through the scope, they saw nothing but a bloody mass, and a simple cut could cause Orville to bleed to death. The options, chemo and radiation, would be ugly. Orville declined and was put on hospice.

Thanksgiving he started this full protocol. At that time he could barely breathe, was white as a ghost, and could hardly move from his chair.
By Christmas his lung was filling with fluid - we slowed the Ellagic.

(Note: In 72 hours Ellagic causes cancer cells to start dying. The body's response is to generate white blood cells and carry the 'trash' away. This process involves fluid. We were killing the cancer so fast, his body could not keep up with the fluid removal. So we slowed the Ellagic consumption until it caught up, then gingerly increase it to 'suggested' levels)

By mid-January 2003 Orville's' color improved and he strengthened. He walked me to the door and had a monster-grip of a handshake, and he returned to weekly Church services, driving himself.
Mid-February, even more improved--his Hospice Nurse was scratching her head.
Mid-March my visit revealed him doing light yard work. He was coughing up crud-ugly crud, but it wasn't blood. Suppose his body was getting rid of the dead stuff that way too?
Mid-April his Hospice Nurse said, you are supposed to be almost dead by now, and you look better than when we first met.
Mid-May 2003 he looks even better and stronger.

When on hospice, you no longer see a doctor, just have home care to make you more comfortable. Soon the doctors will have to see him, and I await the story of that day!
